Been using this app for 7 yrs now, since going vegan, and it has mostly improved over the years. I recently went to add a restaurant near me (serves impossible burger) and there was a mandatory spot where it says to put 3 minimum vegan dishes they serve. That is simply not the world we live in, sadly. If we only allow users to add perfect restaurants, there will be very few options in the app!! Not to mention, if we want vegan options everywhere we have to reward the restaurants who experiment!!

Hello Jean, it's that way only to encourage quality listings, however, everything is decided on a case-by-case basis. We receive way too many listings that are nearby fully vegan restaurants which have 2 or less options so we're also trying to reduce clutter and support the places which are fully vegan.

I love being able to search for vegan and vegan friendly places to shop and get food it is annoying that the app requires your location to be turned on. I'm often planning in advance for trips and need to search a wholly different location it is incredibly frustrating how the app keeps moving and snapping to an area when I try to search in other areas. it's fine if there are no reults in the space I'm looking, let me look and zoom out to see more of the map at once.

I had the app for maybe a year before now, but am writing a review because I have been traveling. In my everyday life back home, it never felt important, but on a trip to Japan this app has genuinely saved me so many headaches. A country many vegans find impenetrable has opened up for me in an enormous way. Places I never would have found through individual review sites or non-vegan oriented sources like maps apps have popped up left and right. This is a vital resource for vegans on vacation.

Yet another update to fine-tune the app for a better user experience!
The HappyCow Android app is FREE for all users! Previously, some features were only available to those who upgraded to the premium version. We understand that these features are important to our users, so we've made them available to everyone.
