About this app

Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.

• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, stickers, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.

• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 50 people.

• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.

• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.

• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.

• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

As a messenger app, it is great. However restoring from a backup is s disaster. I tried tu restore a backup with a verified correct passphrase, but Signal says the password is incorrect, which it isn't. I verified it. But this seems to be an issue if you look on the internet for 2 years already, but the devs at signal don't seem to prioritize this issue.

I like that it's open source, not answering to anyone. Works mostly fine. Sometimes during a video call i only see a part of the other person's picture, the rest is black screen — to fix that, I press back and then return to the call, without hanging up, without having to disrupt the conversation.

Great app for messaging. I would have given 5* but for some reason, in the last two days, the time stamp on my messaging has been WAY out. The time stamp is over 3 hours behind my correct time, and 5 hours behind the correct time of the person I am chatting with. Updates have been done, so dont know the problem. Tried to contact for help, but between bug log and other info required, it wouldnt go through. Good app, with one little glitch at the moment.

What's new

★ We added a convenient shortcut to quickly lower your hand after you start speaking during a Signal group call. It's hands down our favorite feature in this release.
